Uses of R.C.C.

It is a broadly used building material. Some of its essential uses are listed below:

1. R.C.C. is used as a structural element. The common structural elements in a building where It is used are following:

  1. Columns
  2. Footings
  3. Beams and lintels
  4. roofs, Chejjas & slabs.
  5. Stairs.

2. R.C.C. is used for the construction of storage structures such as:

  1. Dams      
  2. Water tanks
  3. Silos and bunkers

3. R.C.C is used for the construction of huge structures such as

  3. Under water structures        
  4. Docks and harbours

4. R.C.C is used for pre-casting

5. It is used for constructing high structures like

6. R.C.C is used for paving

  1. Airports 
  2. Roads

7. In building atomic plants to prevent danger of radiation it is used. For this purpose R.C.C. walls built are 1.5 m to 2.0 m thick.
