TYPES OF COMPASS

The types of compass that are commonly used are:

(a) prismatic compass; and

(b) surveyor compass.

The essential parts of both types are following:

(i)               a graduated circle,

(ii)              a magnetic needle,

(iii)             a box to house them and.

(iv)             a line of sight,

There are some differences in the fundamental parts of the 2 type of compass. The construction of the 2 types of compass is described.
