REINFORCED BRICK CONCRETE (RBC)

It is the combination of reinforcement, concrete and brick. It is well known fact that in tension concrete is very weak. Therefore the concrete in the portion below the neutral axis in the slabs, lintels and beams do not participate in resisting the load. It acts only as a filler material. Therefore to attain economy the concrete in tensile zone may be replaced by tiles or bricks. To embed the reinforcement dense cement mortar is used. The reinforcement can be steel bars, expanded mesh etc.
