LEVELLING INSTRUMENTS

Level which is an instrument gives horizontal line of sight and magnifying the reading at a far away distance. It consist the parts which described follow:

1.   telescope to provide a line of sight
2.   level tube to make the line of sight horizontal
3.   levelling head to level the instrument

The types of levels which are available are following:

(a) Dumpy level                              

(b) Wye (or, Y) level

(c) Cooke's reversible level           

(d) Cushing's level

(e) Tilting level and                        

(f) Auto level.
