IMPROVING EARTHQUAKE RESISTANCE OF TALL BUILDINGS

Due to inertia Tall buildings are subjected to heavy horizontal forces during earthquake. Therefore they need shear walls. To take shear forces a shear wall is a R.C.C. enclosure within the building built. Usually it is built around lift room. These shear walls ought to be provided evenly throughout the buildings in both of the directions as well as from bottom to top.
