GTS Benchmark

GTS benchmark is stand for Great Trigonometrically Survey benchmark. These benchmarks are established by national agency. The department of Survey of India is entrusted with such works, in India. With highest precision survey, GTS benchmarks are established all over the country, the datum being mean sea level. Bronze plate provided on the top of a concrete pedastal having elevation engraved on it serves as benchmark. With masonry structure built around GTS, GTS is well protected so that its position is not disturbed by animals or by any unauthorised person. Position of GTS benchmarks is indicated in the top sheets published.
