EARTHQUAKES  RESISTANT BUILDINGS

An earthquake is a sudden& rapid shaking of the earth surface which is caused by the breaking and shifting of rocks beneath. Ground motion occurs in a random fashion during earthquake in all directions radiating from a point within earth crust, which is called epicentre. It causes vibrations of structures and also induces inertia forces on them. As a consequence structure can collapse resulting into loss of property and lives .people do not killed from earthquake, vulnerable buildings do this. Therefore there is need of designing earthquake resistant buildings, mainly in the earthquake prone areas.
