DISASTER RESETTLEMENT, REHABILITATION AND RECONSTRUCTION

After the disaster disappears, Disaster resettlement, rehabilitation and reconstruction mean taking steps to mitigate the problems of victims.

After disaster period is over Victims need help and assistance to return to their homes. They can be helped to build their damaged houses. They may be provided sites at new settlement areas which are safe if it is flood prone area. Financial assistance can be mobilized for constructing houses. The new area should be developed by providing approach, water supply, roads and electricity. Loss of lives and crop should be compensated. New settlement should have hospital and school facilities. All attempts should be made to obtain normalcy restored.
