DISASTER RESCUE AND RELIEF MEASURES
Disaster rescue and relief means taking steps to face the distress situation after the disaster has occurred. Volunteer groups, police force or military teams are organised to following purposes
- Donating blood
- Rescue the people trapped.
- Rendering first aid to wounded
- Organizing should be clearing up so that normalcy returns.
- Locating places where dead bodies may be kept till they are disposed off.
The groups should know that victims are anxious, demoralized and depressed. The volunteers have to win the confidence of victims and perform rescue operations.
The officers performing rescue and relief measures should have quick decision taking abilities and good leadership qualities. Emergency announcements should be made. Necessary rescue teams should be formed and guided. Higher authorities informed regarding the situation continuously. If necessary, mobilize national resources. They should undertake steps for compensation and maintenance of rescue operations.
