Disadvantages of Brick Masonry over Stone Masonry

1.  Durability of brick masonry is less.
2.  Strength of brick masonry is less in comparison of stone masonry.
3.  Brick masonry absorbs water and there is possibility of dampness. In stone masonry no such problem exits.
4.  Brick masonry needs plastering and plastered surface needs colour washing. Stone masonry doesn't need them and  therefore  maintenance cost is more in brick masonry.
5.  Stone masonry gives massive appearance and therefore monumental buildings are built in stone masonry.
6.  More architectural effects may be given in stone masonry in compared to that in brick masonry.
