Introduction to Electroanalytical Methods:
The given unit is the first unit of this course. This unit deals along with the fundamentals of electrochemistry which are essential for understanding the principles of electroanal ytical methods elaborates in this Unit 2 to 9. Within this unit we have also categorized of electroanalytical methods and briefly introduced of a few important electroanalytical methods. Other details of these elecroanalytical methods will be elaborate in the consecutive units.
Objectives
By studying this unit, you will be able to:
- name the various units of electrical quantities,
- describe the two primary laws of electrochemistry,
- define the single electrode potential and the potential of a galvanic cell,
- derive the Nernst expression and provides its applications,
- compute the electrode potentials and cell potentials by using Nernst equation,
- define the basis for categorization of the electroanal ytical techniques, and
- describe the basis principles and define the necessary conditions of the several electroanalytical techniques.
