Specific Parameters
Specific chemical parameters vary from facility to facility but commonly involve the following: pH, hydrogen, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, total gas content, chlorides, fluorine, boron, and radioactivity. For the parameters denotes, control is commonly achieved through one or more of three general processes.
(1) Ion exchange within the primary system demineralizer(s) or through supplemental chemical additions
(2) Oxygen scavenging through hydrogen or hydrazine addition
(3) Degassification
Table 1 lists the more general chemistry parameters measured and/or controlled, the purpose every measured and/or controlled, and control methods utilized.
