Emulsion as Cutting Fluid
In most of the cases both a cooling agent and lubricant is required simultaneously. For such situations, oil-water emulsion is employed. Emulsion is attaioned by mixing small amount of petroleum oil in water, and after that stabilising by adding emulsifier as soap, fallow oil, etc. Further, to prevent galling (or thickening) of the concentrate, glycols or alcohols are added up. Additionally to these certain germicide (such as sodium nitrate) is also added.
