To provide satisfactory service, the cutting fluid must possess
a. good lubricating property,
b. low viscosity so that lubricant might easily fill in the cracks formed on the workpiece.
c. chemical stability,
d. non-corrosive nature towards the metals of the workpiece in addition to tool, and
e. high thermal conductivity.
