Tetra-calcium Alumino Ferrite (C4AF)
It possesses the following properties:
(a) It is slow in reaction.
(b) It produced less heat of hydration.
(c) It is comparatively in-active and therefore poor in early strength.
(d) It does not contribute to establish ultimate strength as it has poor cementing value.
(e) It has fewer resistances to sulphate attack.
It has been analyzed that C3S and C2S control most of the strength developing properties of cement. A sum of their percentage range varies from 70 to 80 %.
Through changing the associative proportions of these compounds, different types of cements can be manufactured.
