Tilting Disk Check Valves:
The tilting disk check valve, described in Figure, is same to the swing check valve. Such as the swing check, a tilting disk category keeps fluid resistance and turbulence low since of its straight-by design.
Figure: Operation of Tilting Disk Check Valve
Tilting disk check valves could be installed within horizontal lines and vertical lines having upward flow. A few designs simply fit among two flange faces and gives a compact, lightweight installation, particularly within larger diameter valves.
The disk lifts off of the seat for open the valve. The airfoil design of the disk permits it to "float" on the flow. Disk stops established within the body position the disk for optimum flow features.
A huge body cavity helps minimize flow restriction. As flow reduces, the disk begins closing and seals before reverse flow occur. A Backpressure against the disk will move it across the soft seal within the metal seat for tight shutoff without slamming. The valve might be fitted along with an external lever and weight if the reverse flow pressure is not sufficient to cause a tight seal.
Those valves are available within a soft seal ring, metal seat seal, or a metal-to-metal seal. A latter is recommended for high temperature operation. The soft seal rings are replaceable, other than the valve must be erased from the line to make the replacement.
