Lathe Center Method
(1) Deepen the center punch marks at both ends and mount the work-piece among the lathe centers.
(2) Adjust the lathe center tension that is why the work can spin freely.
(3) Hold a piece of chalk in one hand that is firmed against any part of the lathe.
(4) Spin the work-piece by hand and take the chalk close to the work-piece surface until it lightly marks the high spot.
(5) Repeat the step no. 4 on the other end of work-piece.
(6) Fasten the work-piece in a vise, tip the center punch and move the center punch mark in the direction of the chalk mark by hammer.
(7) Retest the work-piece among the centers and repeat the steps 3 to 6 until preferred accuracy is acquired.
