Saturated and Subcooled Liquids
When a substance exists as a liquid at the saturation pressure and temperature, it is termed as a saturated liquid.
When the temperature of the liquid is lower than the saturation temperature for the existing pressure, it is termed either a subcooled liquid (entailing that the temperature is lower than the saturation temperature for the given pressure) or a compressed liquid (entailing that the pressure is greater than the saturation pressure for the given temperature). Both words have similar meaning; therefore either term might be used.
