CAD data structures:
Work related to the following areas has been addressed in this interface.
- Investigation of CAD data structures and the presentation of 2-D and 3-D models by using new modelling techniques.
- Specifying neutral file formats and providing access mechanisms.
- Development of pre- and post-processors for interfacing various CAD systems.
- Development of interface test methods, and aids for performing and documenting tests.
One special goal of the CAD*I project was the interaction with the STEP activities to develop solutions which could be directly implemented in STEP.
The publications of the CAD*I project are very complete and are well suited to give the reader not familiar with CAD/CAM interfaces a good insight into the general problems of software standards.
