Types of bonds in a material Assignment Help

Assignment Help: >> Bonding - Types of bonds in a material

Types of bonds in a material:

The categories of bonds in a material are determined through the manner in that forces hold matter together.  Below figure illustrates various categories of bonds and their features are listed below.

1. Ionic bond - In this category of bond, one or more electrons are wholly transferred from an atom of one element to the atom of the other and the parts are held together by the force of attraction since of the opposite polarity of the charge.

2. Covalent bond - A bond formed by shared electrons. Electrons are shared while an atom needs electrons to finish its outer shell and could share those electrons along with its neighbor. The electrons are then category of both shells and both atoms are filled.

3. Metallic bond - In this category of bond, the atoms do not share or exchange electrons to bond together.  Alternatively, several electrons (roughly one for each atom) are more or less free to move throughout the metal, so that each electron could interact along with several of the fixed atoms.

4. Molecular bond - While the electrons of neutral atoms spend more time within one region of their orbit then a temporary weak charge will exist. Through the other molecules the molecule attracted weekly. This is sometimes known as the molecular bonds or van der Waals.

5. Hydrogen bond - This bond is same to the molecular bond and occurs because of the ease within that hydrogen atoms are willing to give up an electron to atoms of fluorine, nitrogen, or oxygen.
