Types of Loading:

A beam might be subjected to the following types of loads.

1. Concentrated or point load,

2. Uniformly distributed load, and

3. Uniformly varying load.

Concentrated or Point Load

Load working at a point on a beam is called as concentrated or a point load. In practice, this is not possible to apply a load at a point that means at a mathematical point as it shall be distributed over a small area. But, as compared to the length of the beam, this extremely small area is negligible.
