If one end of the beam is hinged, while the other end is simply supported on rollers, the hinged end shall be subjected to horizontal thrust equal to the unbalanced horizontal force because of inclined loads. An axial force diagram, which represents horizontal thrust in the beam, is drawn as shear force diagram. Sign convention utilized to draw the thrust diagram is tensile force (that means ← force acting towards left) as positive and compressive force (that means → force acting towards right) as negative.
