Summary

Tool engineering includes metal cutting, pressing, and several work holding devices. Metal cutting is normally associated with industries like, aerospace, automotive, home appliance etc. Cutting tool includes single point cutting tool and multipoint cutting tool.  The several types of single point cutting tools like solid type tool bit, long indexable insert, brazed tip tool, and throwaway indexable inserts are utilized as per requirement. Machine tools are classified such as general purpose, production and special purpose machine tools. Various operations like facing, turning, drilling, planing, shaping, milling, grinding, boring are discussed in this unit. Several fine finishing operations are also described in this unit.
