Static Electricity
Atoms along with the proper number of electrons in orbit around them are in a neutral state, or have a "zero charge." The body of matter consisting of these atoms will neither attract nor repel other matter which is in its vicinity. As happens due to friction whenever one rubs a glass rod along with a silk cloth if electrons are removed from the atoms in this body of matter, it will become electrically positive as displays in Figure. If this body of matter example for., glass rod comes near, but not in contact with another body having a normal charge, an electric force is exerted among them since of their unequal charges. An existence of this force is referred to as static electrostatic or electricity force.
Figure: Static Electricity
Example: Have you ever walked across a carpet and received a shock whenever you touched a metal door knob? Your shoe soles built up a charge through rubbing on the carpet or that charge was transferred to your body. Whenever you touched the zero-charged door knob, your body became positively charged and, electrons were transferred to your body until both you and the door knob had equivalent charges.
