Basic AC Theory:
An understanding of how an AC generator establishes an AC output will help the student analyze the AC power generation procedure.
DESCRIBE the construction and operation of an easy AC generator.
EXPLAIN the development of a sine-wave outcome in an AC generator.
The elementary AC generator (Figure) consists of a conductor or loop of wire within a magnetic field which is produced through an electromagnet. The two ends of the loop are linked to slip rings, and they are in contact along with two brushes. Whenever the loop rotates it cuts magnetic lines of force and first in one direction and then the other.
