Ball Valve Position:
A few ball valves are equipped along with stops which allow only 90° rotation. Others do not have stops and might be rotated 360°. Along With or without stops, a 90° rotation is all which is needed for opening or closing a ball valve.
The handle denotes valve ball position. While the handle lies with the axis of the valve and the valve is open. While the handle lies 90° across the axis of the valve and the valve is closed. A few ball valve stems have a groove cut in the top face of the stem which displays the flowpath by the ball. Observation of the groove position denotes the position of the port through the ball. This feature is particularly advantageous on multiport ball valves.
