Backups
Backup is the process of taking a copy of relevant and significant information on the workstation or server systems. Backing of files is one of the best crucial functions of system administration. That should be planned and carried regularly at scheduled intervals for the given five main reasons.
Accidental file removal - A user or superuser might accidentally remove an important file.
External failure of system - Power failure might lead to file system corruption and data loss.
Internal failure of systems - A Hard disk crash or system failure in a few other system components that might lead to data loss
Environmental damages - Natural disaster might destroy the local site.
So backups should be protected against these categories of dangers.
Backing of files that mean making a copy of them, generally on removable media as safeguard in case the damaged or originals get lost. A Backup should be performed on a regular basis. The only limitation on how frequently backups are performed should be the size and availability of data if backups are automated sufficiently.
