Future of HRM Function
Even in the most of archaic factories of currently, 'job' has evolved to mean work that's more than only cutting or grinding a piece of metal. It means being capable to operate more than one machine, read statistical charts, self-maintain quality and graphs and troubleshoot machine difficulty. The white-collar job has been transformed no less. The worker of a modern corporation no longer pushes a paper from in-box to out-box. Rather, he ought to coordinate with all of the constituents of the corporation (like customers, suppliers and even other employees), analyse, communicate and make vital decisions-typically in that order.
Tomorrow, the order will change. Sophisticated InfoTech systems will take care of the coordination and communication bit automatically. This will even crunch mountains of discrete sets of information to throw up smart patterns.
The largest challenge to the employee at Future Inc. would lie in the way he selects to use that information. In other terms, the worker @ futureinc.com would be a knowledge worker; in varying degrees, he or she would have to seek ways of constantly adding up value to the task at hand. Employees would have to look at employment as commercial assignments, and employers should treat them accordingly.
