Quantitative Analysis:
The chromatogram acquired on a recorder chart could be used to measure quantitatively the concentration of elements in a mixture. In common, three methods are used for quantitative evaluation:
Area normalization method: In this method, it is supposed that the whole sample is eluted from the column. The area of each peak is measured and percent composition is acquired through dividing the individual peak area through the total area of all the peaks and multiplying through 100. The value so acquired will be acceptable only if the detector response is the same (particularly for FED) for all the elements of the mixture. If not, the detector response factor for every component requires to be built and appropriate corrections made in the measured areas.
