Polymeric Materials:
DTA is a extremely meaningful technique for the characterization of polymeric materials within the light of identification of thermophysical , thermochemical, thermo mechanical and thermo elastic modifies or transitions. It gives important parameters for polymer processing and its end use. The DTA also gives useful information about quantitative aspect, degree of fusion, crystallinity, phase equilibrium, heat of polymerization, degree of curing etc. A classical DTA curve of a polymer is shown in Figure along with labeled four transitions: glass transition, crystallisation, melting and oxidation, abbreviated as Tg, Tc, Tm and Td correspondingly.
