Canvas View:

The canvas-view is the ‘background’ or those Items, Text and Graphics or Frames are placed. The items in a block can be placed on variant canvas-views. Every canvas-view can be displayed in various windows.

The Oracle Forms, Block wizard permits items to be placed on different kind of Canvas like ‘Content’ and ‘Tab’. Window:

Each new form is automatically held in a default window named WINDOW 1. Further windows can be created as required through inserting them in the Object Navigator under the ‘Windows’ node.

For each window created, at least one canvas-view must be created. The canvas-view is the backgrounds on that item are placed. The canvas-view is connected to a window through setting the ‘Window’ canvas-view property appropriately.

Window properties can be set at runtime or design that determines the functionality and appearance of the window at runtime.
