The Process Specification
The process specification which is also known by PSPEC is used to define all flow model processes which appear at the final level of refinement. The matter of the process specification can comprise narrative text a program design language PDL description 11 of the procedure algorithm mathematical equations tables diagrams or charts through providing a PSPEC to accompany every bubble in the flow model, the software engineer builds a mini- spec which can serve as a 1st step in the creation of the software needs specification and as a guide for design of the program component which will implement the procedure.
To describe the use of the PSPEC lets consider a software application in that the dimension of several geometric objects is analyzed to identify the shape of the object. The Refinement of a circumstance level data flow diagram continues until level two derived are processes. One of these named analyzed triangle. PSPEC for analyze triangle is first written as an English language narrative as describe in the figure. Although algorithmic detail is desired at this stage a program design language representation may also be included as element of the PSPEC. Moreover several believe in which the PDL version should be postponed until design commences.
