Capacitance:
There are several natural causes of capacitance in AC power circuits, like as fluorescent lighting, transmission lines, and computer monitors. Generally, these are counteracted through the inductors previously discussed. Therefore, where capacitors greatly outnumber inductive devices, we have to calculate the amount of capacitance to add or subtract from an AC circuit through artificial means.
DEFINE capacitive reactance (XC).
Given the operating frequency (f) and the value of capacitance (C), CALCULATE the capacitive reactance (XC) of a simple AC circuit.
DESCRIBE the effect on phase relationship among current (I) and voltage (E) within a capacitive circuit.
DRAW an easy phasor diagram representing AC current (I) and voltage (E) in a capacitive circuit.
