Principles of Operation:
The principle of operation for all AC motors relies on the interaction of a revolving magnetic field created in the stator through AC current, along with an opposing magnetic field either induced on the rotor or given through a separate DC current source. The resulting interaction generates usable torque that could be coupled to desired loads by the facility within a convenient manner.
Prior to the discussion of specific categories of AC motors, a few general terms and principles necessary are introduced.
