SEITON (Straighten-Configure)

SEITON means configuring the items marked as 'useful' and arranging them so as to minimise search time and effort. The minimum number of needed item can be of no use, if they are stored too far from the work station or in a place where they can not be found.

How to do?

1. Each item must have a designated address, name and volume.
2. Floor space for bins containing WIP or supplies must be marked by painting.
3. Maximum allowable number is indicated clearly.
4. In nut shell, each item should have its own address and conversely each space should have its designated address.
5. Each wall can be numbered.
6. The gang ways should be marked clearly.
