Working of Editor and debugger:
Editor/Debugger, or commands can be typed from Command Window. For illustration, the dbstop command below will set a breakpoint in the fifth line of this function (that is the action of the if clause), that allows us to type the variable names and/or expressions to examine their values at that point in the execution. The dbcont function can be used to carry on the execution, and dbquit is used to quit the debug mode.
Note that the prompt becomes K>> in the debug mode.
>> dbstop testifelse 5
>> testifelse(-2)
5 disp('In middle of range')
K>> x
x =
-2
K>> 3 < x
ans =
0
K>> 3 < x < 6
1
K>> dbcont
In middle of range
end
>>
By typing the expressions 3 < x and then 3 < x < 6, we can conclude that the expression 3 < x will return either 0 or 1. Both 0 & 1 are less than 6, therefore the expression will always be true, despite of the value of x!
Example of Nested functions: For illustration, the function below computes and returns the volume of a cube. Three arguments are then passed to it, for the width and length of
Illustration of Binary search: An illustration to search for the key of 91 in the vector is as shown below: The table below shows what will happen in each iteration of
Function Stubs: The other common debugging method, which is used when there is a script main program which calls many functions, is to use the function stubs. A function stub
Example of customizing plots: As the other illustration of customizing plots, the pieces of a pie chart can be "exploded" from the rest. In this situation, the two vectors are
Illustration of reading from files: For illustration, suppose that there is a data file 'subjexp.dat' that has on each line a number followed by thecharacter code. The type fu
Example of Vectorizing: Likewise, for an operation on a matrix, a nested loop would be needed; for illustration, supposing a matrix variable mat: [r c] = size(mat); for
Lower Level File I/O Functions: Whenever reading from data file, as long as the data in the file is "regular" the load function works-in another words, the similar type of dat
Opening and Closing a File: The Files are opened with the fopen function. By the default, fopen function opens a file for reading. If the other mode is preferred, a permission
WHILE Loops: The while statement is used as a conditional loop in MATLAB; it is used to repeat an action whenever ahead of the time it is not known how many times the action w
Rectangle - graphics objects: The other core graphics object is the rectangle that can have curvature added to it (!!). Merely calling the function rectangle without any argum
