Working of Editor and debugger:
Editor/Debugger, or commands can be typed from Command Window. For illustration, the dbstop command below will set a breakpoint in the fifth line of this function (that is the action of the if clause), that allows us to type the variable names and/or expressions to examine their values at that point in the execution. The dbcont function can be used to carry on the execution, and dbquit is used to quit the debug mode.
Note that the prompt becomes K>> in the debug mode.
>> dbstop testifelse 5
>> testifelse(-2)
5 disp('In middle of range')
K>> x
x =
-2
K>> 3 < x
ans =
0
K>> 3 < x < 6
1
K>> dbcont
In middle of range
end
>>
By typing the expressions 3 < x and then 3 < x < 6, we can conclude that the expression 3 < x will return either 0 or 1. Both 0 & 1 are less than 6, therefore the expression will always be true, despite of the value of x!
Index vector: The index vector is then used as the indices for original vector. To get grades vector in ascending order, the indices used would be grades (2), grades (5), and
#qYou will need to examine two of the nine sections of data: one section of qualitative data (choose either Gender or Position) one section of quantitative data (choose either Intr
Example of Function stubs: The three functions have not so far been written, though, therefore the function stubs are put in place so that the script can be executed and teste
Example of Mode When no value appears more often than any other, the smallest value in the vector will be the mode of the vector. >> shortx = [2 5 1 4]; >> mode(shortx
Tracing: Sometimes, when a program has loops and/or selection statements and is not running properly, it is helpful in the debugging process to know exactly which statements h
Illustration of Input in a for loop: In this illustration, the loop variable iv iterates through the values 1 through 3, therefore the action is repeated three times. The acti
Example of Vectorizing: Likewise, for an operation on a matrix, a nested loop would be needed; for illustration, supposing a matrix variable mat: [r c] = size(mat); for
Combining Nested FOR Loops and the IF Statements: The statements inside a nested loop can be any of the valid statement, involving any selection statement. For e.g., there can
Input in a While Loop: The script below repeats the procedure of prompting a user, the reading in a positive number, and echo-printing it, as long as the user properly enters
Example of Functions which complete a task: For illustration, the function below just prints the number arguments passed to it in a sentence format: As this function i
