Q. Why is an emitter bypass capacitor used in an RC coupled amplifier?
If an emitter resistor Re is used for self-bias in an amplifier and if it is desired to avoid the degeneration, and hence the loss of gain due to Re, we bypass this resistor with a very large capacitance .The effect of this capacitor is to affect adversely the low-frequency response.
It is used to avoid negative feedback.
