Nick paid $68.25 for a coat, including sales tax of 5%. What was the original price of the coat before tax?
Since 5% sales tax was added to the cost of the coat, $68.25 is 105% of the original price of the coat. Use a proportion to ?nd the original cost of the coat; part/whole = %/100. Part is the price of the coat with the sales tax, $68.25. Whole is the original price on the coat that we are looking for.
Call it x. The % is 105; 68.25/x = 105/100. To solve for x, cross-multiply; (68.25)(100) = 105x. Divide both sides by 105; 6825/105 = 105x/105; x = $65.00.

Tangents with Polar Coordinates Here we now require to discuss some calculus topics in terms of polar coordinates. We will begin with finding tangent lines to polar curves.
Determining the Laplace transform of a function is not terribly hard if we've found a table of transforms opposite us to use as we saw in the previous section. What we would want t

Given, y = f(x) = 2 x 3 - 3x 2 + 4x +5 a) Use the Power function to find derivative of the function. b) Find the value of the derivative at x = 4.
Implicit Differentiation : To this instance we've done quite a few derivatives, however they have all been derivatives of function of the form y = f ( x ) . Unluckily not all
If the points (5, 4) and (x, y) are equidistant from the point (4, 5), prove that x 2 + y 2 - 8x - 10y +39 = 0. Ans : AP = PB AP 2 = PB 2 (5 - 4) 2 + (4 - 5) 2 = (x
