(i) Defining: It includes specifying the data types, structures and constraints of data types, structures and constraints the data to be stored within the database.

(ii) Manipulating: It involves functions such as querying the database to retrieve specific data updating the database to reflect changes within the miniworld and generating reports form data.

(iii) Sharing: It permits multiple users and programs to access the database at the same time.
