In many large plant cells, the cytoplasm is a thin layer adjacent to the cell wall, because the rest of the contents of the cell, including the nucleus and other organelles, are forced to the perimeter by the vacuole. Fluid in the vacuole is in constant motion, circulating both nutrients and wastes.
