What is Tube extrusion

Billet is placed inside a container between die and mandel. Mandel is pressed by ram and metal is extruded through the die. This process is used for making steel tubes. Billets are heated to about 13000c except low carbon steel tubes which are cold worked.

The benefits of this process are

(a) It is comparatively a cheap process.

(b) Low wall thickness can be obtained by this process.
