What is Trigonometric Ratios ?

Trigonometry, a branch of mathematics, is based on the ratios known as sine, cosine, and tangent. Trigonometric ratios apply only to right triangles.
If A is one of the acute angles in a right triangle, then

note: Sine is abbreviated sin. Cosine is abbreviated cos. Tangent is abbreviated tan.

Example 1: Calculate sin A, cos A, and tan A in the right triangle below:
