The meaning of 'rock' and 'mineral'

Develop the meaning of these two terms by a study of the specimens collected. A rock is usually regarded as mineral matter found in the earth in large quantities. Most rocks are mixtures of minerals although some parts consist of a one mineral. A mineral is a substance found naturally in the earth which has an exact chemical composition and a set of exact and characteristic properties.
