What is the cardiovascular system

The cardiovascular system, nervous system, kidneys and special sensory organ, eyes is directly affected by diabetes and leads to fatal conditions. Gastrointestinal system and genitourinary systems are also affected by diabetes. Dysfunction or damage of different systems is caused or aggravated by the inter relationship between different system. For example, the lumen of the arteries of cardiovascular system becomes narrow due to deposition of cholesterol which is produced in excess when person is having diabetes. The narrowing of arteries leads to insufficient blood supply to many organs and causes damage to them. One of the causes of neural damage isinsufficient blood supply, due to neural damage, the neural co-ordination of the organ is impaired. When blood supply and nerve supply of an organ is impaired, the structure and function of that organ is bound to be affected. In this way when kidneys are affected by diabetes, toxic substances accumulate in the body, water and electrolyte balance is disturbed which leads to multi organ dysfunction
