What is Stress Corrosion

Stress corrosion takes place in prestressed concrete tendons due to the combined actions of corrosion and static tensile stresses. This type of attack in alloys is due to the internal metallurgical structure of steel and may lead to brittle fractures. Other possible types of corrosion in steel tendons are pitting corrosion and chloride corrosion.
