What is Staffing

Staffing: The process of recruiting, selecting, developing, training and evaluating people can be called staffing. Staffing is a continuous function, as people are continually leaving and changing.

Characteristics:

1. Staffing is closely linked to organizing, that is, to the setting up of intentional structures of roles and positions. Staffing is phase of organizing.

2. Every manager must handle some phase of staffing, even by the personnel department may provide technical help.

3. Staffing must be guided by certain formalized employment policies.

4. It is performed at dissimilar times for different reasons. It is of repetitive nature.

5. It is the job of managers. It is concerned primarily with human resources management.

6. It deals with job-person matching in organization

7. It is a functional aspect of personnel management.
