What is signifying by suction force of the plant cell, Biology

Assignment Help:

Q. What is signifying by suction force of the plant cell? Does the suction force facilitate or make difficult the entry of water into the cell?

The suction force (SF) is the osmotic pressure of the plant cell vacuole, that is of the vacuolar internal solution. Since the vacuolar solution is hypertonic in comparison to cytosol it attracts water thus rising the cytosol concentration. With the osmotic action of the vacuole the cytosol becomes hypertonic in relation to the external and more water enters the cell.
