What is Read only memory (ROM) and Define the Use of it?
A simple kind of ROM can be constructed from a decoder, Or gates, and a number of wires.
Input Fuses Output
The Rom is used to implement complex combinational circuit within an IC or used as a memory device. The information is specified through the designer and embedded in the unit, to from the required information.
It consists of n inputs line every bit combination of input variables called as address. Every bit combination of the o/p is called as word and the no. of bits/word= The no. of o/p lines.
Consider ea 32X 8 ROM it consists of 32 words. Every has 8 bits.
ROM is able to be used to implement complex combinational circuit within a unit.
Illustration Design the combinational circuit using a ROM and The circuit accepts 3 bit no and generates an output binary no equal to the square of the input no.
Q Why we use addressing schemes? An operation code of an instruction tells the operation to be performed. This operation is executed on some data stored in memory or register.
