Located in precentral gyrus of frontal lobe (anterior to central sulcus, which separates frontal and parietal lobes. Neurons called pyramidal cells in these gyri allow conscious control over our skeletal muscles. Descending tracts here are called "pyramidal tracts" (ex. corticospinal tracts).
