Q. What is Job enlargement?

Job enlargement involves expanding the number of tasks or duties assigned to a given job. Job enlargement is naturally opposite to work simplification. Adding more tasks or ditties to a job does not mean that the new skills and abilities are needed to perform it. There is only horizontal expansion. If the job was monotonous earlier, it becomes more monotonous now. Job enlargement is said to usually resist by the employees. Job enlargement is said to contribute to employee motivation, but the claims is not validated in practise.
